Zell am See is the second largest city in Pinzgau in the State of Salzburg. It is a place often described as heaven on earth – a real dream location for those who like the mountains. This small old town is situated between mountains and a lake on the other side. The wonderful weather here at Zell am See makes it perfect to visit the area at just about anytime during the year. You can swim or sail on the lake during the summer season. It would be a great way to relax as well as enjoy the view of the mountains and pursue water-based activities to keep you entertained. On the other hand, during the winter, while the lake is frozen, you can use it to walk through the village of Thumersbach. The frozen lake may be also used for curling. If you are a history buff, then you would love the quaintness of this town that also has a very interesting history. The Vogturm tower houses the museum of local history which you can visit. Zell am See was actually first noted to be populated during the Roman times. After that, the slow progression of the city became very evident. During the 1800’s a railway was built as well as several business establishments. Today, it has become one of the hottest tourist destinations in Austria. This is a mountain within Zell that is mostly tree-lined apart from each top. It is a popular tourist spot during the winter season. If you get tired, you can go to several good mountain restaurants and rest there for a while. And if you’re the type to enjoy nightlife, there are several good bars for you to choose from. There are several hotels to choose from. They have rooms and apartments for rent that are affordable but offer great comfort. And if you are coming from other major cities and states in Austria, going for a day trip to Zell am See would be a great idea. You can go to Zell am See in just about anytime within the year, depending on your purpose for going there. If you want to see the view of the white Alps and have a major skiing experience, then you definitely have to go during the winter. However, if you feel like taking a boat ride or see the lush greenery of the surrounding areas, then it is best to go during the summer to fall.
