Nice Attractions Guide

Places to Go To in Nice: 1. Colline du Chateau – overlooks the Baie des Anges and harbour, as well as provides a breathtaking vantage point for the whole of Nice. The castle itself is ruined aside from the standing walls, but the long climb up the stairs to get a glimpse of the whole of the city is well worth it. 2. Cimiez – The older, upper part of the city which is the site for several museums, including the Musee Chagall, the Musee Matisse, and the Musee et Site Archeologiques de Cimiez to name a few, and some of the museums offer free admission as well. This part of the city also houses a monastery, but most of the inhabitant of Nice has left this area and have moved closer to sea level. 3. Av. Jean Medecin – Nice’s main shopping street. It also is home to two huge entertainment stores, Virgin Megastore and the French FNAC for all your music and entertainment needs. 4. Promenade des Anglais – the Walk of the English. It goes along the Mediterranean Sea and leads to the Baie des Anges beach. There are a number of beautiful sights and historic buildings along the way which makes the walk all that much more worth it. 5. Musee d'Art et d'Histoire – the Museum of Art and History. The monument is dedicated to 3,600 soldiers who lost their lives in the Great War, with a massive urn right in the center. It is a very touching and nostalgic monument which shows the heart of Nice. 7. Cours Saleya Market – a market with an Italian ambience, as Nice was technically a part of Italy until 1860. Food markets, flower stores, and junk shops galore are found here, and along with the liveliness of the location, give tourists an essence of the spirit of Nice.
